Looking Around the “Range of Light”

Armed with only my iPhone and the patience for point-and-shoot photography, I found it impossible to capture the grandeur of the High Sierra with simple still photography. Instead, I relied on Photosynth, an ingenious app that creates stunning panoramas by stitching together still images. While nothing on a computer screen will ever represent the vast scale of the landscapes along the JMT, the panoramas do help me remember what it felt like to be surrounded by such beauty on all sides.
